The National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is a public trust established in 2006 by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulator of the securities markets in India. We function as a premier educational and research institution aimed at improving the standards of professional conduct and competence within the financial services sector.
NISM offers a diverse range of educational pathways categorized into three main verticals:
- Certification Examinations: These are mandatory and voluntary professional certifications. They cover various segments like Equity Derivatives, Mutual Funds, Currency Derivatives, Merchant Banking, Investment Advising, and Research Analysis.
- Academic Programs: We offer long term programs such as the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Securities Markets) [PGDM-SM], the Post Graduate Program in Investment and Securities Markets (PGPISM), and a joint LL.M. in Investment and Securities Laws.
- Training & eLearning: Short-term training, workshops, and 60+ self-paced eLearning modules are available for continuous upskilling.
Validity of Certificates:
The standard validity for most NISM certification exams is three years from the date of issuance. Before the certificate expires, candidates must either re-appear for the examination or complete a one-day Continuing Professional Education (CPE) or eCPE program to extend the validity for another three years. Certain certifications, such as those related to Valuation (IBBI), may follow different regulatory guidelines regarding renewal.
