Which actor paid the ultimate price for his career decisions?

Heath Ledger as Joker

To get ready for the role of the Joker in Dark Knight, Heath Ledger went beyond limits. He decided to prepare for the role he would lock himself away in a hotel room and write a diary. He spoke to himself in different voices. He said it was important to find the somewhat iconic voice and laugh. When his diary was explored, it showed images of hyenas, pictures of the character Alex DeLarge from the film “A Clockwork Orange”, and also handwritten dialogue. The final page of the diary had the words ‘bye bye’ written in large letters. When he had finally finished the movie, it had paid off but with an ultimate price. He received an Oscar for his portrayal but suffered from severe insomnia. His preparation for the role also upset his wife so much that she left him. He ended up accidentally overdosing on sleep medication.
