Which actor played a villain role too well for comfort?

Gary Oldman.

He is a great actor! He has done lots of movies where he is the quintessential villain.

I first watched him in the movie JFK (1991) He portrayed Lee Harvey Oswald:

A year later he was Dracula:

In True Romance:

In the Fifth Element:

In Air Force One:

In Kung Fu Panda 2:

The Firm:

The Contender:

He really becomes each role he plays, but the best role for me is corrupt agent Norman Stansfield in Léon: The Professional (1994)

He was psychotic, sadistic, evil, a great villain! I have watched this movie a few times for the past 25 years. Each time I feel like he just played this role to perfection. Here is a little scene where even his own henchmen are afraid of him:

Watch until the end, the best line ever!
