What is Germany really like and how is life as a German, as well as someone that migrated to Germany to live?

My Friend grew up in Germany, and still have family there. As an addition to the already very good text replies given here by others, He can offer some images of normal, German life as a non-tourist would actually experience it.

Showcasing Germany in pictures is perhaps a good way to appreciate the scope of experiences one may have, even though they will be far from a complete overview.
