How can I become more financially free?

Mumbai/6/12/2025/Sat/10:45/Hrs/IST

  1. InvestYour first step needs to be investing your extra money. Keep enough liquidated for emergency situations and invest the rest, ideally, in index funds or whatever you know the most about.
  2. Focus On Generating Income Not Saving MoneySaving money works in the realms of -X (what you would spend) to 0 (no expenses). That means it can never be positive, only less negative, which means if you were absolutely perfect, you would reach 0. Not really the way to riches, is it?
  3. Develop A SkillIf you can, become a Master in something. Then sell that skill where you can. A little extra can go a long way especially when you invest.
  4. Sell ThingsThere are likely a ton of clothes, books and other things you have not used in the last 5 years. If you haven’t used them in that long: Sell them.
  5. ResellA good strategy is to buy things cheap at flea markets or garage sales to sell them for higher prices on sites like Ebay. The extra effort can make you a substantial profit margin.
  6. Learn From Richer People If none of these tips sound good to you, then your first order of business should be to learn what you can do. Take an hour a day just to learn. Start there and see where that may lead. Get as many of these people in your circle of friends.
  7. Know You Can Make Money From Anything - …but you have to produce something to make money from it. That means spending less time consuming.
  8. Triple DownDo 3x of whatever is already generating you money. At the simplest form: Work = Money. So 3xWork ~ 3xMoney. Of course that’s way oversimplified but there will at least be an opportunity for more.
  9. Work Harder/Ask Your Boss For Promotions Or ask them what it would take to promote you without a doubt, then, do that and a little bit more. Alternatively, keep an eye out on the job market so you can see when there’s something better.
  10. Don’t Listen To People Who Are Not Financially FreeExample: Me. Do not listen to those who haven’t actually reached financial independence. Their advice may serve as guidelines, but it is about as good as a teenager giving you marriage advice.
