Why do people live a nomadic life?
- I lack a sense of belonging in any society. I’m a loner, an outcast, and a misfit. I don’t belong anywhere. However, the one thing I can do is live in exile. I don’t seek to become part of the societies in which I spend time. Instead, I actually like to be treated as an outsider who can live outside the bounds of societal expectations.
- It’s fun and adventurous. I meet new people all the time. It’s much better than living in the same shit town your entire life and hearing the same stories again and again.
- I can selectively choose when I interact with others. When I am in a country where I know very few people this is rather easy. I mostly prefer to spend my time alone, away from the watchful gaze of others. Being nomadic allows that.
- It’s a learning experience. Try spending a week, a month, or especially a year in another country. See how much you learn not only about other societies, but about yourself. You will learn self-reliance, if nothing else.
- Freedom.
