Will Amazon's Lord of The Rings show have forced diversity?

Absolutley.

And the worst of all is… it will be unnecesary.

The best example of what would happen is Netflix’s Troy, infamous for their black Achilles:

What was so terrible/horrible/despicable about it?

  1. Achilles is described as blond and basically became the ideal image for later Greeks.
  2. There was an Ethiopian King named Memnon that came to aid the city, a man considered to be almost Achilles' equal in strengh.

So they didn’t care about Greek culture otherwise they would have portrayed Achilles properly.

They didn’t care for proper diversity and representation otherwise they would have portrayed him, wich would have been amazing!!!

We have this Ethiopian that can go against the greatest of Greeks, a king against a demigod warrior.

But that’s the thing, they are too lazy to read the source material or they don’t care at all, they say they care but they just don’t. Just like they could have done an amazing and special show with great books such as the Iliad but didn’t, they’ll fuck it up with Tolkien.

If they cared for Tolkien’s works and for diversity they would look for the proper way to add characters and peoples, but they don’t care of either. They just want quick money of the masses and praises from the media ignorant on Tolkien.

If they cared they would show the Haradrim, Rhunic and other non Middle-Earthers and portrayed them as brave people fighting for the wrong cause like Tolkien did:

“It was Sam's first view of a battle of Men against Men, and he did not like it much. He was glad that he could not see the dead face. He wondered what the man's name was and where he came from; and if he was really evil of heart, or what lies or threats had led him on the long march from his home; and if he would rather have stayed there in peace.”

Samwise Gamgee on the books and Faramir on the movie:

When the Battle of pelennor fields was won and the orcs fled it was the Easterlings and Haradrim who held their ground and fought proudly to the death.

The mod Third Age for Medieval II Total war handles the Haradrim and Rhunnic people perfectly, the Troll-Men (as described briefly in Return of the King) being black men champions of the Haradrim. The submod Divide and Conquer also shows the blue wizards trying to stir an anti Sauron rebellion in Khand… amazing!

That happened on the Witcher, they ditched a Slavic background and the different ethnicities of the books ruining any chance at good storytelling about the different peoples of the book. When everyone is diverse, none is.

What is the importance of ethnicity when everyone is diverse?

If in the Witcher Zerrikaneans look just like northeners.

But i expect the greatest of writing when talking about Tolkien.

Disclamer: I say that this will happen yet I want to be wrong so badly.
