Why does Kamala Harris speak with a black accent when speaking to black audiences, but speak without an accent when speaking to Caucasian audiences

Most people, consciously or unconsciously, are capable of changing their mode of speech depending on their audience. Black people in the United States are particularly adept at this because they’re used to speaking to both Black people and White people on a regular basis.

Like Mr. Trudeau, who grew up in a bilingual household and regularly spoke both languages, Ms. Harris grew up in an environment where she regularly spoke to Black people and White people.

And they both spent time in Montreal, where this sort of behavior is common.

Mostpeople can speak more than one variety of a language, and they can often switch back and forth between the other, even in the same sentence.
