No? Just me then. Hollywood feuds have been around since film was invented. Whether it’s Angelina Jolie dropping her dad Jon Voight’s surname after he walked out on her and later questioned her mental health. Or Lea Michele of Glee who…well everybody on the show seemed to hate her.
Either way, there’s no doubt that actors and actresses can get into some real beef with each other.
As you say famously dislike each other, I’ll assume that we’re talking about living actors or ongoing feuds. Let’s check it out!
Vin Diesel and The Rock
Whilst ‘Vin Diesel and The Rock’ sounds like it could be the title of a pretty out there children’s book, the stars of the Fast & Furious franchise fought over ‘being men’.
With testosterone levels through the roof on set, shrouded barbs were sent back and forth on social media. There were comments about egos, how the stars were conducting themselves and The Rock and Diesel were separated by funnelling the former into his own spin-off movie.
‘It’s not always easy being an alpha. And it’s two alphas.’
Vin Diesel
To be fair to them, they did squash their beef (again over social media) when The Rock got married in 2019. We’re not sure we can say the same for Dwayne and Tyrese Gibson - are we seeing a common denominator here?
Will Smith and Janet Hubert
Who’s to say whose story is right in this mix-up. Smith and Hubert’s off-screen relationship got so bad that she was eventually recast in season 4 of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Way back in 1993, Smith went on record as saying:
‘Janet Hubert wanted the show to be The Aunt Viv of Bel Air Show’. Hubert would go on to quash any chances of a reunion and call Smith an a**hole. So much for family ties!
Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic
^Looks can be deceiving right? Though these two were only ‘married’ in Castle, they were still sent to couples therapy in the real world.
US Weekly, despite Katic saying she remained magnanimous, reported that the stars hated each other back in 2016.
With Katic’s sudden departure from the show, network ABC cancelled the whole show altogether. Eight seasons of everyday beef is quite a job to keep up!
I know I know. I said ‘ongoing’ feuds, but it’d be criminal to leave out…
Bette Davis and Joan Crawford
If Diesel and The Rock were the two biggest alphas butting heads, then Davis and Crawford were two biggest Dames.
In a lifelong feud, they would continually try and steal the spotlight back from each other, steal men from each other, and volley back and forth insults like they were playing tennis.
At last, when Crawford passed away, Davis had only this to say:
“You should never say bad things about the dead, you should only say the good. Joan Crawford is dead. Good.”
