The German countryside is peaceful, and tends to be heavily agricultural in character.
So you may well be living in a building that belongs to a farm, or you will be surrounded by plenty of farm buildings, farming activity, and farming smells.
I grew up in Bavaria, and spent most of my youth in the countryside. It’s easy to get to, even for a teenager on a bicycle. Just get on it and leave town, and you will be among fields and meadows pretty much instantly. Countryside is never very far from town. You would therefore live most likely in a village or small town. It’s unavoidable.
Living standards are as good as in the big city. Probably better, actually. Running water, comfortable buildings… there is none of that huge contrast between city and countryside as there is in China, India, or Latin America. You get a lot more space for your money outside the cities, of course.
Public transport may not be brilliant though, so you would need some form of transport.
