Elon Musk is the real-world equivalent of Peter Weyland.
He will probably be remembered as the most influencial businessman of all times.
His plan to colonize Mars may fail (mostly because people will eventually understand that they do not want to live in caves and only be able to go outside in a spacesuit), but he will still be remembered as the person whose rockets first allowed humans to put their feet on another planet.
He will also be remembered from Tesla Motors, which is the trailblazer for the switch to electric cars. “In ancient times, before Elon Musk and Tesla, people used to drive on cars which used an engine which worked by burning gasoline”
He might also be remembered as the pioneer for passenger rockets that allow travelling from continent to another in 40 minutes instead of 14 hours. However, probably only rich persons will be able to afford to travel on his passenger rockets, as travelling on a rocket just always consumes a lots of energy (and causes lots of carbon emissions).
He might also be remembered as the father of the tunnels systems that removed traffic jams from many cities.
Also, he will probably be remembered from Neuralink, first commercial company putting a brain-computer-interface inside a human head. Whether he will remembered for this a as a great pioneer who helped paralyzed people walk and allowed humans to evolve into much more advanced cyborgs with higher intellectual capacity, OR as the evil supervillain who allowed oppressive nations and criminal organizations to enslave people in much more intrusive and comprehensive way than was possible before, is yet to be seen.
