How do they film a head on shot of a mirror in a movie?

There’s this famous scene from the Matrix:

How did they achieve this shot, without the camera being visible?

Well, the camera is visible in the shot. You just don’t realise it.

I always love small production details like this!


Want to know what I think is the best shot like this though? It’s in the excellent Jodie Foster movie, Contact.

Some people have asked how the Contact scene was made. I know the director, Robert Zemeckis, has been relatively tight-lipped over how it was achieved, but Ben Shovelton did mention that Corridor Digital discusses this in a recent video:
