The law of nature is made in action and reaction, cause, and effect. The same goes for karma, the law of karma is, whatever goes around, comes around and whatever comes around goes around. Karma simply means action, actions are born through thoughts because whatever action a human commits, he cannot commit it before he thinks about it, whatever a human does, he will first think and then do it. Thoughts born in a human are a result of emotions and memories, if emotions are negative then the thoughts will be negative too and if the emotions are positive, then the thoughts will be positive too, emotions in a spiritual context are known as Maya. So if a human thought process controlled by emotions is negative, then the actions ie. the karma created by the negative thoughts will be negative too. People think that when negative karmas strike back and cause pain and suffering in a human’s life, it's like some kind of revenge by mother nature, frankly, this is not the case, its the previous karma created by the same human in this birth or in the previous births which is getting cleansed. Spirituality and meditation controls the mind, clears the mind out of negative emotions, and negative thoughts but spirituality directly does not cleanse karma. Karma can only and only be cleared when it comes back in the same exact form as it was created and when karma hits back, it causes sufferings so that the previous account of karmas gets settled, this is one of the reasons because of which it is said that sufferings are blessings and not some curse.
Usually, people suffering from their childhood are a sign that he/she has created very heavy karmas in the past human reincarnations especially when the cause of their sufferings is their own parents or relatives in some of the other manner. Karmas are actually created in human form and not in the form of some other species because it's only a human who is having some amount of freedom to choose but the rest of the living beings are slaves. The difference in between the returning of karmas in human birth and returning of karmas, if we are born as some other kind of species is that, in human carnation, all the karmas can be cleansed in one birth itself, especially if a human walks the path of spirituality, but if we are reborn in the cycle of reincarnations by taking birth as other species, then the karmas will return and be cleansed one birth at a time. So a human birth is an opportunity for a human to cleanse the mind as well as the karmas by walking the path of spirituality in one birth itself and thus get out of the cycle of reincarnations and gain freedom known as liberation.
Reincarnations are actually born in the mind of a human when a human being is still physically alive and after the death of the body, whatever kind of reincarnations are born in the mind, the soul or the mind starts to enter those physical reincarnations one by one. Frankly, almost every human in today’s date is born before his actual time to be born as a human, he/she should have been born as an animal or a bird or a reptile or an insect, etc. but just because the soul got compatible parents, that's is why he has been born prior to his actual time, this is the main reason behind a human being’s sufferings from the very beginning of his life ie. from his childhood itself.
