Please read at your own risk. This post is intended to caution people not to go to Mathura (Vrindavana).There is some serious danger there. If you don’t heed the advice, everything may get destroyed. So, please listen carefully.
In Bhakti Rasamrta Sindhu, Srila Rupa Goswami, the principal of the Six Goswamis, cautions
smerāṃ bhaṅgī-traya-paricitāṃ sāci-vistīrṇa-dṛṣṭiṃ
vaṃśī-nyastādhara-kiśalayām ujjvalāṃ candrakeṇa |
govindākhyāṃ hari-tanum itaḥ keśi-tīrthopakaṇṭhe
mā prekṣiṣṭhās tava yadi sakhe bandhu-sange’sti raṅgaḥ ||1.2.239 ||
❝O my friend, if you desire to enjoy with your friends and relatives, then do not look upon the form of the Lord called Govinda, who is wandering near Keśī-tīrtha on the bank of the Yamunā river, with a slight smile on His lips, posed in His threefold-bending posture, eyes glancing everywhere in a crooked fashion, flute placed on His red lower lip like a tender bud, and shining gloriously with a peacock feather.❞
Understanding the importance of the above advisory issued by Srila Rupa Goswami, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura decided to compose a whole song. Let us carefully listen to his 'song of caution'
TEXT 1
bandhu-sańge yadi tava rańga parihāsa, thāke abhilāṣa (thāke abhilāṣa)
tabe mora kathā rākha, jeyo nāko jeyo nāko mathurāya keśī-tīrtha-ghāṭera sakāśa
❝If you want to enjoy laughing and joking with friends and family, if this is really your desire, then listen to me. Don’t go, don’t go to Mathura (Vrndavana) to Keshi-Ghata.❞
TEXT 2
govinda vigraha dhari’, tathāya āchena hair nayane vańkima-dṛṣṭi, mukhe manda-hāsa
kivā tri-bhańgama ṭhāma, varṇa samujjvala śyāma nava-kiśalaya śobhā śrī ańge prakāśa
❝There Sri Hari has taken the form of Govinda, who gives pleasure to all, whose crooked glance is quite captivating, whose mouth is gently smiling, who is standing in His tribanga pose, whose complexion is a very effulgent Shyama color, and whose limbs are attractive like tender new leaves.❞
TEXT 3
adhare vaḿśī-ṭī tā’ra, anarthera mūlādhāra śikhi-cūḍākeo bhāi koro nā viśvāsa
se mūrti nayane here, keha nāhi ghare phire saḿsārī gṛhīra je go hoya sarva-nāśa
(tāi mora mane baḍa trāsa)
ghaṭibe vipada bhārī, jeyo nāko he saḿsāri mathurāya keśī-tīrtha-ghāṭera sakāśa
❝The sound of His Vamshi enthroned upon His lips is the root cause of madness. Brother, have no faith in that person who wears a crest of peacock feathers. If you see that form, you will not be able to return home again. Your family life will be destroyed. (This is my great fear!) There will be great danger if you go there. If you want to enjoy family life, don’t go to Mathura near Keshi-Ghata.❞
Thus, following the instructions of Vaishnava Acharyas such as Srila Rupa Goswami and Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, an advisory has been issued in the public interest.
