Walking.
In 2017 I finished my schooling, and I used to have stomach issues as well as quite underweight. As I was in my late teenagehood, I was going through hormonal changes. Which got worse when at the same year I moved to hostel. It was a single room. And I was enrolled in a government college so, classes were quite irregular, most days I would stay in my room only. It had a severe impact on my sleep quality. I could not sleep till 3 in the morning. and it became a regular habit of mine. I used to feel guilty that I am not getting enough sleep. That time I was active on Quora, and a lot of Quorans used to write about physical activity. So one day, I thought I should also do some physical activity. Luckily, near my hostel there was a Public Park where people used to come for walking, running or any kind of physical activity. I went there one day and really liked the vibe. Then slowly it became my habit. And whenever I could not go for walking during the day, I would walk after having my dinner. (post dinner walk).
Fast Forward to 2021, I was enrolled into an university and the campus was huge, so it gave me the opportunity to walk as much as I can. also the campus environment was quite peaceful and serene, because of that I could walk for hours.
I am 25 now, work 7 hours a day, but now it has become my ritual that I will walk atleast 1.5 hours after dinner. Except for completely rainy days, I never skip my post dinner walk.
Now how did it change my life?
- I no longer struggle with sleep. I go to bed at a reasonable hour and have proper 7.5 or 8 hours of sleep every night.
- I have struggled with acne and pimple, but after walking for 2 hours almost every day, my skin condition has significantly improved.
- As I had mentioned earlier that I struggled with stomach issues, luckily now am almost free from those problems.
- My mental health has significantly improved and now I look forward to go for my daily walk.
- My weight became normal. neither over nor under, exactly how as it should be.
- I can now walk for almost 10km.
So For me the life changing experience if I have to say, I will give credit to my walking habit.
Thank You.
