How did you become an assistant director at a very young age? Please describe the whole process.

In November 2021, I had reluctantly filled a form for a post advertised by UPSC through recruitment advertisement number 15/2021.

There was only one vacancy for the post but I met the essential educational and experience criteria so I went ahead with it.

I had nearly forgotten about it but while randomly checking the UPSC website one day in August 2022, I saw my name in the list of shortlisted candidates. There were nine candidates who were supposed to be called for the interview.

The list was revised later and ten candidates had to appear for that one post.

Sincerely speaking, I didn’t think I’d make it through. There were a number of factors in my head that were making me feel so like:

  • I have never appeared for an interview in my life.
  • This is going to be my first interview and that too in front of a UPSC panel.
  • I pursued my masters from IGNOU and there will be better candidates from better Universities than me.
  • i don’t have much time to prepare along side my hectic job that takes up nearly 12 hours of my day including travel.

So on..

I was also very sick a week before my interview.

4 days before my interview, my mother had some sort of food poisoning/ dehydration and I had to rush her to the hospital in emergency. I was so worried.

I was in my own sweet mess and as one of my seniors suggested, I went into the interview room for rejection without any expectations whatsoever.

I had read up all that I could. I had my notes. I was sure that only a miracle can get me through this.

With my nothing-to-lose attitude, I was weirdly confident that day.

All I could say after the interview was that I had a really good time. I enjoyed my time in the room and answered all questions to the best of my capabilities.

2 days later, my colleague barged into my room asking for a treat and I couldn’t believe my eyes when he handed over the result to me. I shivered.

That was the little story.

I know I have to write in detail about my interview experience as well. Coming soon!

Spread peace and happiness 💞
