10 harsh truths about life (that most people learn too late)

1. No one is coming

You will be the main cause of any significant change in your life.

The government will not save you.

Your girlfriend will not save you.

God will not save you.

The sooner you realize this, the sooner self-improvement will make sense.

2. It's easier to fail than it is to succeed

The law of entropy states that all things naturally degrade over time.

Your skills decline if not sharpened.

You get fat if you don't exercise.

This means an upward effort must be exerted at all times to prevent degeneracy.

3. Money isn't everything (but it is a whole lot)

Money is neutral.

I've seen it create dream lives, and I've also seen it blow those same lives to bits.

Treat money like a tool and it will serve you.

Treat money like a god and it will punish you.

4. Everything takes 2x as long and costs 2x as much

Any goal you want to achieve will take longer and cost more than you expect.

Are you willing to endure?

What price are you willing to pay?

Only you can answer that.

5. You and everyone you know will die one day

Death is an abstraction to most people.

But all it takes is one accident, one diagnosis, being in the wrong place at the wrong time–to be erased from this world.

Use the time you have right now to the fullest.

6. The present moment is the only moment

The past is a shadow in your memory.

The future has yet to be created.

The only time you have to develop your ife is NOW.

That's why they call it "the present".

It's a gift.

Don't reject the gift.

7. You can't save people from themselves

You can't deliver a message to someone who isn't willing to receive it.

Many people will have to learn hard lessons on their own.

The teacher will only appear when the student is ready.

8. Your "friends" need to be tested

Anyone can be a "bro" when it's 70º and sunny.

But when a financial crisis hits, health problems and family issues arise...look how few "friends" are around.

Friendship needs to be tested in the heat of life.

Or else it's just hot air.

9. Overnight success is a myth

Most "successful" people have stories of toiling in isolation and defeaning silence for many years with no outward results.

Are you willing to go through the same?

If not, then success is not for you.

If so, then you MIGHT have a shot.

10. You will never find happiness

Happiness is a shallow goal in and of itself.

Happiness is a byproduct of giving value to your environment and other human beings.

Searching for it on its own will lead to a dead-end of narcissism, vapidity, and stunning failure.
