Why is there such a backlash for Greta Thunberg's alternative Nobel Prize?

He is Jadav Payeng. He lives in Majuli, Assam (India). When he was a teenager, he came across the fact that the place he lives in is exposed to soil erosion, then took a pledge to save the environment and started planting a tree every day. He planted so many trees in the last 40 years that he has created a jungle of 550 hectares singlehandedly!

Thanks to his efforts, Majuli is no longer at the risk of soil erosion. Bengal tigers, elephants, rhinos have returned to their comfortable abode in Majuli. Had he not been discovered by a journalist, he would still have continued to work for the betterment of the world silently.

She is Greta Thunberg, who lives in the developed nation of Sweden. She got ample media attention because she said, “How dare you”! She said that “You have stolen my dreams and childhood”. Well, I thought her dream was to see a balanced world, then who stole her dream? I mean can’t she work towards getting a cleaner world? Why did she not start planting a sapling? Instead of urging kids to skip school, why didn’t she urge them to plant trees? Instead of sounding arrogant, why didn’t she propose a solution?

If getting some media attention is a prerequisite to get a Nobel Prize, then okay. Otherwise, Jadav Payeng deserves to be awarded. He understood the problem as a teenager and instead of just talking, he did what was meant to be done.

Let us give respect where it is due and allow people to register that Nobel Prizes are distributed based on work only.
