Why are people afraid of a hippopotamus?

First, their speed. A hippopotamus can run as fast as 48 kph. You know who can’t run that fast?

Usain Bolt. He tops out a little slower than that. If he can’t outrun a hippo, you can’t either.

Second, you usually think of hippopotamus teeth like this.

And here is what they look like in real life

Yeah, a hippopotamus is basically “Jaws” except sharks can’t come out of the water.

Third, Hippos are ill tempered and quick to take offence.

Most likely, they’re fighting over a very small patch of water, which is where hippos rest for the day to keep cool (they feed on land at night, but it’s too hot for them during the day).

And do you know what makes hippos the angriest? When you get too close to one of their babies.

The lions probably though the baby hippo would make a nice snack. Not a good idea.
