What was the most shocking thing about the Capitol Hill riots?

The sheer level of abject dumba$$ery? Some of those who invaded Capitol Hill were dangerous, (there’s no denying it → they beat Police officers (eventually causing the death of one) and set up a gallows for their boy Pence) but the rest was seriously stupid. Like… ‘hella’ level stupid.

That stupid lot was dangerous mostly because of their numbers and momentum, not because they were criminal masterminds who were going to successfully take over the Capitol Hill. I mean, they ran over each other and tazed themselves in the balls (Edit - apparently the ball tazing has been debunked) and took dumps on the floor and smeared poo and blood on the walls and statues FFS… Then they wrecked the joint and stole stuff, and also (luckily) got in the way of those who were actually there to cause serious harm, damage and mayhem.

SIDENOTE: I wonder if that lot knows that chimps also fling poo to assert dominance?

The saying usually goes “Never underestimate the power of a large bunch of stupid people” but for this clusterf#ck, we need to amend that to “Stupid people in a large mob get stupider and play with poo.”

People were absolutely *shocked* that the authorities tried to stop them from completing a coup.

Elizabeth from Knoxville (someone so vacuous that her IQ is a negative black hole and you’ll get stupider if you stand next to her) exemplifies the spirit with which this thicko crowd invaded:

She’s so surprised that when she tried to break, enter and trespass as part of an insurrection, that she got shoved and maced. She’s butthurt that she faced any consequences. Then she dabs her eyes with an onion… **If she’d bothered to do a 30-second fact check, she’d know that onions don’t help with mace or tear gas and all she did was rub an onion into delicate injured tissue.

Then she blithely announces her crimes and then her name and location. She’s the freaking poster child for the level of asininity inherent in the coup crowd. So many of them posted their own footage of themselves committing crimes. And now they’re picking them up and charging them. #consequencesb!tch!

These people are normal every day, salt of the earth people, with jobs, children and lives to lead. They just happen to have a very dangerous belief → That the rules of democracy don’t apply to Donald Trump. They scream about freedom, all while trying to destroy the institution that gave them that freedom. None of them thought of themselves as criminals. They genuinely believed that the rules didn't apply to them or to their political messiah.

Undertaking an insurrection is pretty shocking (don’t get me wrong) but what shocks me the most is how easy it was for those (who still think of themselves as patriots), to drink enough Kool-aid to openly and unapologetically try to cancel democracy in America.
