I’ll list down a few highlights of my preparation for CFA Level 1, along with the details of the material referred, steps by step usage, download links and few recommendations.
My Background – I am a CFA Charterholder with 7 years of rich experience in Valuations at HSBC.
Since you have asked some ‘tips’, I will endeavour to keep my answer as crisp as possible. Don’t miss out the disclaimer and recommendation at the end of the answer.
Material to be referred - There is plenty of information available w.r.t. the books and material that you should use. I’ve attached the complete study planner, along with the step by step preparation plan, as a link to the end of this answer.
Maintain your study plan - Make the study plan in excel sheet and keep it in proper display. This way, any accidental deviation will not occur. Given below is a study planner that I used while preparing for Level 1. It’s immensely helpful and customizable if you want to keep track of your preparations.

Join Online study groups - Frequently participate in CFA study groups over Facebook with other students to discuss difficult aspects of a subject, to share knowledge and techniques, to teach one another and to inject extra motivation into your study. You might find some good study partners too!
Disclaimer - Basic study tips/schedule or maybe just doing blind hearted studies would not do justice to your CFA preparation.
For those who don’t understand the concept to the root judiciously, history has shown that such people in life become a Chartered someday but their position in life would always be akin to a toothless tiger - where u can catch hold of your prey but cant sink your teeth in.
Recommendation –
If you really wish to get an in-depth understanding of concepts taught in CFA, then I must say, only very few CFA Prep providers inculcate the same. It’s pretty much necessary to implement them in your workplace later on.
I can only vouch for The Wallstreet School, where I took the coaching for CFA. If you want to learn Valuations, FRA and Fixed Income in the best possible way, you can blindly trust them. These are the only subjects where I must say that teacher is important for preparation. They will explain you every topic in an easy-to-digest, story format.
Vikas and Pankaj Sir will toggle and chisel the minds of the students, within the class as well as in their video lectures. The confidence that you get on religiously completing their full length videos is immense.
