Well, in all fairness, none of the characters look exactly how they are described in the books (with the exception of Hagrid, perhaps). Here are the most notable examples:
Harry Potter
Harry was described as short and skinny in the early books, but then later on grew up to be tall and of lean build like his father. Daniel Radcliffe, on the other hand, grew up to be rather short. Also, book-Harry was known for his brilliant green eyes and messy black hair, which they actually got somewhat right in the third film and then for some reason dropped the ball on it again moving forward.
Hermione Granger
Hermione was described as your stereotypical school nerd who had bushy brown hair and, until GoF, buck teeth. Now, while the movies got the hair right in the first two films, after that they dolled Hermione up way too much and turned her more into some prom-queen-esque character rather than the socially awkward bookworm that she's described to be in the novels.
Ron Weasley
Ron, from the get-go, was described as tall and lanky-looking, and had fiery red hair and lots of freckles. Now, movie-Ron, apart from the red hair, in all fairness looked very little like his book counterpart.
Viktor Krum
Viktor in the books was described as thin and “sallow-skinned”, with a large hooked nose and thick black eyebrows. He was also said to be rather awkward on the ground, which stood in stark contrast to his gracefulness in the air. Movie-Viktor, on the other hand, came across like some hunky Brazilian soccer player.
Severus Snape
A large hooked nose, long greasy black hair, uneven yellow teeth, sallow skin, and a mean and deeply unpleasant attitude. That's book-Snape for you. Now, while Alan Rickman did a fantastic job with what he was given, apart from the hooked nose, he was very little like his book counterpart—not to mention way older, which was a problem for all the Marauder-era characters.
Ginny Weasley
Ginny was described as a very beautiful and spunky girl who was very popular among her peers. She had long fiery-red hair, bright brown eyes, and was rather short—most definitely shorter than Harry. Now, Bonnie Wright, while pretty, never really managed to truly bring across the true essence of Ginny Weasley.
Lily & James Potter
I mean, what's there to talk about, really? Lily and James died at the tender age of 21. They surely didn't look middle-aged, as they were portrayed in the films. Not to mention kid-Lily having brown eyes…really?!
