Jennifer O’Neill. She shone brightly for a brief period following the success of the movie, Summer of ‘42. A coming of age movie, bitter-sweet. A beautiful young woman, wife to a soldier, spends the summer of 1942 renting a house where she meets some young boys. Their relationships are platonic.
SPOILER ALERT.
Then one evening one of the boys turns up at her house to find her desolate. Her husband was killed in action.
They then spend the night together. In the morning she moves away. It was based on a true story which makes it more poignant. The author never did meet the woman again. But when the film became a huge hit she got in touch with him but refused to meet.
Jennifer never did repeat the success of the movie. Surprisingly, she was later married 9 times to 8 husbands. A stunningly attractive and talented actress who was lucky to find that one defining role.
