Not if they keep writing him up in the same way as the four Fantastic Four movies which all ended up as flops.
The first film was the best as they got good actors and the characters were right at least for the Fantastic Four.
Also the previous movies were too small. They were done by Sony who had the rights but not much else.
In the the area of the MCU there is room for a better result as you get more than one movie to develop Doom into the super threat he can become. You also get the funding and the multi superhero participation that Doom needs to make a larger backdrop to his emergence as a threat to humanity.
Doom is subtle in how he subverts the villain archetype. He is not a coward, he is a genius, he has morals. His people see him as a protector but that’s because he controls them so completely as he has a need for their worship and adoration. He does have a God complex that means it’s about Doom first and the rest of the universe second. He is prepared to sacrifice others in his service, depending on the situation quite a lot of others.
Someone mentioned a series format of the Fantastic Four and Doom but I’d just go with a Doom series as the FF as antagonists to Doom make the scale just too small.
Doom is like a mirror form of Batman in his genius, paranoia and planning. He’s hard to sneak up on and even harder to beat. If he has a kryptonite it is his hubris.
Get the right actors especially for Doom.
I see Doom as being at least in his 40’s. The problem with getting an actor good enough in the right age group is that the MCU and DC has used most of the best ones.
For example Benedict Cumberbatch immediately springs to mind but we know him as Dr Strange. Christian Bale, “I’m Batman!!”.
Joaquin Phoenix, the Joker by DC. Tom Hardy is Venom and as much as I like him in everything else I think he would stink as Doom.
Michael Fassbender, as Magneto. Ewan McGregor, Doom with a Scottish accent, I can’t see it. Kenneth Branagh is too luvvy for me but he does have the theatrical training for Doom.
A lot of other actors are just too old like Christopher Walken, Willem Dafoe (Aquaman).
Ralph Fiennes is a possibility. Daniel Craig will always be Bond but he has the chops to play it, just too soon after Bond.
Christoph Waltz could do it but I think he’s been a bit over used as a villain and he’s 62. Same with Dolph Lundgren, a European who is more versatile than he’s given credit for. At 61 he still has a physique but would need a bit of CGI to help.
Jeremy Irons, Ed Harris both getting on in years but both good actors.
Michael C. Hall as Dexter has the ability to be a 3D villain but you can see that whomever has the job of casting for Doom will have their work cut out.
