Syrians know how to do breakfast right!
Syrian Breakfast Mezze
Cheese, olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, yogurt, zaatar (bread with thyme, sumac, sesame, oregano, and olive oil), fruits, foul madammas (fava bean dip ), mamounia (a semolina hot breakfast cereal, maybe some eggs, a little pastry, coffee and/or tea.
Syrian breakfast is more about family and connections than it is about the scrumptious variety and delicious options. In his interpreted Arabic, Chef Abdul Bari puts it best: “As far as Syrian breakfast goes, it has to revolve around the family sitting together. The dish itself isn’t just food; it’s about love and gathering people together.”
