What is Rome called today?

It's officially called the “Comune di Roma Capitale.” It's a local government subject under the Republic of Italy. Its mayor is (Santa Maria!) Virginia Raggi. Instead of pillaging an enemy city, they get their financing from tickets for infractions like noise ordinances, illegally parked cars & littering (good luck with that).
