How were you treated after you gained weight?

From preschool-second grade, I was your average skinny little kid. In third grade, when puberty started kicking in, I started gaining weight. I’ve always been tall for my age, but as my mom says, “you fill out before you fill up.” I’ve also always had a double chin by genetics, which doesn’t help my face. I got made fun of for being tall, and therefore not looking like a stick like the other girls in my grade. I guess I didn’t have it that bad, but as someone who doesn’t have a particularly high metabolism, I had to put in a lot of effort to eat right and exercise. I used to be really self-conscious and not wear swimsuits when I went to the pool—I would just sit on the edge.

^^Here’s me in kindergarten.

^^Here’s me in fourth grade—as you can see, not that chubby, but I had a stomach.

I grew a lot taller in fifth grade, but in 6th grade I started to gain weight again. I’ve always had a large chest and been very developed for my age. By sixth grade—ages 11 & 12—I weighed 140 lbs and wore a women’s large in shirts and a women’s 4 in pants. I went up to a women’s 6 in jeans in 7th grade (12 & 13.)

The pictures below are from the summer between 6th and 7th grade.

The photos below are from 7th grade.

During the second half 7th grade, I grew a lot taller.

The photos below are from eighth grade. At the beginning of the year, I started to gain weight again—up to a women’s 8/10 in pants and 140–150 lbs. Still a large in shirts.

^^ This photo was taken right after I grew a lot, as my face doesn’t look so rounded. I was at about 145 lbs here.

^^ All the photos above were taken in February, the last few being on my Disney trip before the pandemic. I was about 148 lbs here, a women’s 10 in pants, and still a large in shirts.

^^ Taken this summer—I had started to work out.

^^ The photos above were taken at a wedding in July. The dress was a size 6 and still hung off me, which I was happy about. Down about a size 8 in pants and a women’s medium in shirts.

^^ Me during our school’s homecoming spirit week in September (left.) That shirt’s a youth XL! Shorts are a medium and I was down to about 135 here.

^^Taken in October (I’m on the right.) Down to about 130, women’s medium/small in shirts and a 6 in pants.

^^ This and the ones below are most recent—down to 128/130 lbs, women’s small/medium in tops, and a 6 in pants.

That’s all for now! Let me know what you think about my journey!

Thanks Kallie sharing a true story God bless you
