Sounds pretty interesting but i shall give you list of foods which should never be ordered and will give the reason for the same.
The answer is based on Indian restaurant
starter :-
- Vegetable salad
reason :- these are just slices of vegetables or onion which is supposed to be free of cost but most of the indian restaurants ( especially south india ) they have a special prize which can be avoided .
2. SOUPS
vegetable clear soup
chicken clear soup
REASON :- These soup are just water or stock ( vegetable / chicken ) . Most of the hotels the stock is re used for two days or even more. one hidden truth the vegetables are either discarded or the trimmings. even the the chicken is the left over behind the de skinned chicken .better to avoid.
VEGETABLE CREAM SOUP
THECHICKEN CREAM SOUP
REASON :- by recipe these cream soup recipe should have puree of vegetable : white sauce : cream. But most of the commercial restaurants they will make one common white sauce and add bits of vegetable / chicken and sell it as cream soup. you should understand either you order veg / chicken it is the same only bits of chicken or vegetable makes the difference.
suggestion :- you can order for fresh puree soup. makes sure to tell the chef or waiter that you don’t need white sauce ( you can even lie that you are allergic to sauce ) cream can be option.
3. PAPPADS :-
Roasted pappads
MASALA PAPPADS
REASON :- These are to be given free . But most of the small & medium scale operation restaurants they charge and they charge more for masala pappad . merely adding few bits of onion and tomato with chilly.
suggestion :- Try demanding for complementary or ask as a accompaniments of free of cost.
4. LEMON JUICE
REASON :- THIS IS A CHEAP TRICK JUST SQUEEZING TWO THREE LEMONS AND WITH SUGAR THEY CHARGE YOU. ONLY FANCY IS THEY GIVE IN A TALL GLASS OR THEY GARNISH WITH MINT OR SLICE OF LIME
SUGGESTION :- go for a better thick juice without milk and always order the seasonal available fruit as they are cheaper and you can expect the quality. you can even order without water which will cost you little additional.
5. avoid combo foods
Reason :- combo foods look cheap and worth for money but they are best selling trick . need to check the size and the prize normally they are miniature foods, you need to be very careful.
Breakfast Combo:-
suggestion :- The above breakfast combo might look interesting in the picture but in reality when it arrives to your table you will see everything is small even the coffee they call it as mini coffee. except if you are not very hungry and you are the lover of variety than you win!!!!!!!!
what is more important is filling the stomach , don’t forget it!!!!!!!!!!
Lunch Combo
SUGGESTION :- You could see they are very less numbers or small in portion. so better you can order individual rather than ordering as combo!!!!!!!!!!!!
FAST FOOD COMBO :-
SUGGESTION :- I had worst experience in ordering combo in KFC since the combo comes with soda , fried chicken , burger and ice cream, because of the crowd they deliver to you all together. Tel me which one you will eat the burger / fried chicken , soda or ice cream. it was total mess .. Think about it
6. Desserts
JELLY BASED DESSERTS :-
REASON :- These gelatin very cheap , these gelatin crystals are dissolved in a coloured sugar syrup and set. Best is to avoid and go for traditional desserts.
FRUIT SALAD:-
REASON :- What you expect was like the above. But you will get something different where cheap bananas, mango, papaya and watermelon will take the lead and apple ,grapes,pomegranates and zero nuts.
suggestion :- you can order for cut fruits or slice fruits / spicy the fruits of your interest.
8. HOT DRINKS
Black coffee
REASON :- This is mere cheat a tablespoon of nescafe in hot water for cost of a dollar . No way think twice .
TEA :-
REASON : Just a bag of tea in hot water again No think about it
suggestion :- go for special infused tea and always order a pot tea or coffee so that you can always share!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
