Kashmiri food
I love Kashmiri food. I am frequent traveler. And I used to Kashmiri food.
That’s me, at Shalimar Garden in Srinagar, Kashmir, in case someone didn’t believe me
- One of the most famous dishes is called ‘’Roghan Josh’’, which is a very popular item even in many Northern Indian restaurants in the West. Rogan Josh is a mutton stew in a red sauce gravy.
- I tried also something called ‘’Goshtaba’’, which is a big meatball made with mutton and cooked in a sauce made of yogurt.
- My favourite thing actually was ‘’Tabakh Maaz’’, which is some mutton ribs which were cooked with spices and then fried.
- A sort of spinach that is specific to Kashmir called Haakh. You can buy it on the floating market on the Dal Lake.
- I tried a sort of cheese called ‘’Saaman’’. I tried to fry it with some turmeric and salt and chilies, but I enjoy it much more raw, with fresh tomatoes.
- The breads I tried were Lavasah (1st picture) and Ctzot (2nd). They are so tasty but they get dry quickly, so it has to be bought fresh.
- I didn’t try the Kashmiri Noon Chai, which is a salty pinkish black tea, but I tried Kashmiri Kehwa, which is green tea with almonds, honey, and saffron. It’s so good, and you can drink it everywhere (this is actually my picture).
Thanks 🙏😊
