First reason:
Iran is Shia Muslims dominated country whereas Pakistan is Sunni Muslims dominated country.
Second reason:
Pakistan is a very close ally of Saudi Arabia and often imports Arab countries crude oil but India on other hand is the second-largest consumer of Iran's crude oil with 4,25,000 barrels per day.
Third reason:
The total trade between Iran and India is US$13 Billion when compared to Iran Pakistan which is less than $500 million before US sanctions.
Fourth reason:
India invested $20 Billion in building Iran Chabahar port and also India's BRO is constructing 213 KM Zaranj-Delaram road worth $750 million which connects Iran and Afghanistan. Pakistan never invested in Iran.
Fifth reason:
Saudi Arabia always tried to disrupt Iran Nuclear programme through Pakistan but India always maintained a neutral stance.
Sixth reason:
Every year more than 10,000 Iranian students come to study in India. India provides 67 Scholarships every year under ITEC and ICCR.
Seventh reason:
Historic relations between India and Iran. When Arabs occupied Persia, Indian king gave shelter to many Parsis in the west coast of India.
