If there were no term limits and Obama had run for a third term, would Trump have beaten him?

The answer is yes. Barack Obama was still extremely popular when he left in 2016. He would have beaten Donald Trump by a wide margin.

I even think Barack Obama could have beaten Donald Trump in 2020 as well.

Donald Trump benefited from different combinations of circumstances to be elected in 2016, but also from the use of social networks to manipulate part of the electorate.

This did not happen again in 2020, and Donald Trump lost handsomely to Joe Biden.

Donald Trump will not even have the opportunity to run again in 2024.
