At 39, I have been terminated by Wipro. What to do now?

You can give a thought to following suggestions:

1. Relax, take rest, meet old friends, relatives, spend more time with family members and refresh yourself.
2. Invest the money safely that will give you quarterly or half yearly interest to take care of expenses.
3. Upskill yourself according to market conditions and hunt for a job. Use the services of job portals, consultants to look for suitable openings for you. Check if you have friends in reputed companies who can refer you for suitable jobs in the company they are working.
4. Hope you got all the benefits from Wipro when they terminated you viz., notice period pay, cash equal to left over leaves, gratuity, bonus etc.
5. Normally, reputed companies have to follow the rule `first come last go’ in the same cadre of employees. Otherwise, termination will be deemed illegal or the company will have to pay severance pay also. Did you get any amount towards this?

Never let go your self confidence and hunt for a job intelligently. You will soon get a new one. Learn to work in such a way that your company always needs your services. Never make your bosses intelligent nor train the subordinates beyond a point where they start thinking of replacing you. Best wishes.
